Inland Empire
2023 - ongoing

Lake Werriwa, or Lake George, has always been a location in between. A site between the Gundungarra, Ngunnawal, Ngarigo and Walbanga lands that was once considered a location for the Australian capital. Instead of a capital city, the endorheic lake became a rest stop on the way to somewhere else, sitting beside the federal highway. Never permanent, the lake lends itself to a dynamic of nature entangled with the constructed: a place between agriculture, engineering and salt water. Containing individual and collective dreams, realised and abandoned. An Inland sea; with the intrigue of an Empire.
